Condolences

Condolence From: John Anderson
Condolence: Shirley taught so many of us, "Be still, and know that I am God"; she discovered a beautiful natural setting, and added a ministry (Pacem in Terris) of incredible hospitality and grace, a place to find the peaceful solitude where God can reach into the depths of our souls. She displayed gratitude that just so naturally flowed, true humility, and a gentle spirit that always put others first. Her life and service will continue to be a strong testimony to the transforming power of the living Christ, as evidenced at Pacem, and in the peace that we each carry with us. Thank you, Shirley. Peace.

Condolence From: Mary Olson
Condolence: "The way in which we live our lives will echo throughout eternity." Shirley's warm, loving spirit touched so very many lives and she will be remembered with great affection always. I met her over 40 years ago and one of the many things I respected about her was her conviction to go ahead with her dream of Pacem, ignoring any nay-sayers and believing in her passion and calling. What a wonderful example of courage and kindness and love she was to all of us. My love to all of her family.

Condolence From: Blair Anderson
Condolence: Shirley was an amazing gift to this world. Literally thousands of lives were grace by her Christ-centered hospitality at Pacem. Her vibrant faith and her capacity to love were contagious. I got to know Shirley over 25 years ago. She claims I was the first Lutheran pastor to visit Pacem as a hermit. I returned many times and was always greeted by Shirley. She will be missed by all. Yet, her legacy will live on. My heart is filled with gratitude for a life well-lived.
