Obituary for Michael Kudanovych

Very Reverend Michael Kudanovych of Minneapolis, age 97, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015. Father Michael was born in Rivne, Ukraine. Preceded in death by his loving wife Halyna and daughter Iryna. Survived by sons Ihor, John (Nancy) and Myron (Raya); grandchildren, Daniel (Erin), Gregory, Isabella and Michael; and great-grandson Henry. Father Michael and pani matka Halyna met in Germany during W. W. II and married in 1945. In 1947 they moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he became a founding member of the Bratstvo and helped organize the building of St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In 1954, he was ordained into the priesthood and became the priest at St. Volodymryr’s. In 1960, Father Michael and his family moved to the United States. He served as a priest in Philadelphia, Detroit, St. Paul, Rochester, NY and finally Minneapolis until his retirement in 1996. Visitation at KOZLAK-RADULOVICH CHAPEL (1918 University Ave. NE, Minneapolis) Thursday, March 5th from 5-8 PM, with Vigil Prayers (Panachyda) at 7 PM. Funeral at ST. MICHAEL’S & ST. GEORGE'S UKRAINIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH (505 4th St. NE, Minneapolis) Friday, March 6th at 10:00 AM with visitation one half hour prior. Interment in Bound Brook, NJ.
