Obituary for Aaron Michael Nelson

Aaron Michael Nelson was born on July 27, 1977 in Des Moines, Iowa. Aaron attended the University of Iowa from 1995 to 2000 and graduated with a degree in business. He was a resident of Minneapolis, MN where he had lived since 2002. Aaron worked as in mortgage underwriter for his professional career.

Aaron was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and traveling with his family and friends. He walked his beloved dog, Hayden, every day no matter what the weather entailed. She was his loyal, constant companion.

Aaron loved music and attending concerts. He followed his favorite band, Widespread Panic, across the country seeing multiple shows a year.

He also loved sports. Aaron played baseball for many years in high school, and was on a softball team every summer. Aaron enjoyed attending professional sports games, and rooted for his favorite teams: the Twins, Vikings, Hawkeyes, and Timberwolves. Another favorite hobby of Aaron’s was disc golf.

Aaron will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and humor. Those who knew Aaron have only positive things to say about him. He would do anything to help out a friend, family member, or stranger. His compassion and thoughtfulness for others will never be forgotten. Aaron was a wonderful son, uncle, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by many.

Aaron is survived by his loving mother and father, Gary and Cindy Nelson; his brother, Nate Nelson and his wife, Liz; sister, Sarah DeJong and her husband, Ryan; nephews, Taylor and Dylan; niece, Charley; and many more close family and friends.

Services will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in East Bethel, MN. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. with an 11:00 a.m. service to follow. Family Pastor, Daniel Nordin, will officiate.
