Obituary for Herbert Donald Allee Jr.

Herbert (Herb) Donald Allee Jr., 89 from Bettendorf, Iowa passed away peacefully in his sleep on August, 20, 2016.

We celebrate Herb’s life. He was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1927, the son of Herbert and Helen Allee. Herb graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in engineering and was a huge, life-long Wolverines sports fan (M Go Blue)!

Herb married Jackie Allee in 1951 and they celebrated 63 anniversaries together. He became Kate’s father in 1961.

Herb worked as a sales engineer for SKF Industries for 30 years. He had an affinity for all things automotive and was a member of SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) for 50 years. Restoring antique cars was a passion, especially his Brush Runabout which was invented by his great uncle Al Brush.

Wood-working, engagement in Rotary, and an active lifestyle (biked and played tennis into his 70s) were things that Herb enjoyed. He and Jackie loved spending time in the upper peninsula of Michigan at their cottage on Lake Superior in “God’s Country”. The French countryside was another favorite memory making destination.

Herb is preceded in death by his father and mother, Herbert and Helen Allee and his wife, Jackie Allee.

He is lovingly remembered and will be missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Kate and Brian Stephany of Maple Grove, Minnesota and grandchildren Erin and Ryan Stephany.

Memorial gifts can be made to the Agape in Action Fund (c/o National Christian Foundation, 730 Second Avenue South, #415, Minneapolis, MN 55402). This is a cause which Herb supported.
