Obituary for Jean Mary Johnson

Johnson, Jean Mary (Turok) Age 86, of NE Mpls. Preceded in death by husband, Alvin. Survived by daughter, Penny Henderson and son, David (Francine) Johnson; grandchildren, Melanie and Eric; godson, Glen (Beverly) Semanko. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. A lifelong resident of NE Minneapolis, Jean graduated from Edison High School in 1948. She worked at Graco for a few months before moving on to Minneapolis Public Schools for 30 years. Then went on to work for Hennepin County for 10 years. After her retirement, she worked part-time for the Minneapolis Convention Center for 13 years. Jean enjoyed baking. She regularly donated her treats to the Ronald McDonald House at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. She also enjoyed bringing dessert platters to her friends especially during the Holidays. As an active member of St. Mary's Orthodox Cathedral, Jean volunteered with the Perohi Group for over 10 years and the Women's Club for 35 years. Funeral service 12:30 PM Saturday, September 10, 2016, at ST. MARY'S ORTHODOX CEMETERY CHAPEL, 3025 Stinson Blvd NE, St. Anthony Village, with visitation 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Interment immediately following.
