Age 84 of North Minneapolis. Born 9/1/32, passed peacefully on 4/13/2017. Preceded in death by wife, MaryAnn; parents Gregory & Mary; brothers, Thaddeus & Hank Bownik. Survived by children Lisa (Kevin) Doyle, Michael (Sohnny), Gregory “Joe” (Elaine), Mona Amand, Paul Bownik & Marty (Tricia); sister Jane (Tom) Burchett; sister-in-law Rosemary Bownik; many in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews. Grandchildren Mike (Liz), Sarah, Ryan (Wendy), Savia (Shawn), Ariana, Athina, Jennifer (Matt), Julie, Daniel, Rachel and Moriah. Great grandchildren Hailey, Layla, Scarlet, Christian, Saveah, Savion, Shyniste, Nicholas and Cyrus. Greg proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1950-53 during the Korean War. He spent his career with the Minneapolis Housing & Redevelopment Authority and the MCDA/MPHA. During that time he served as Assistant Director and Manager of public housing. He also helped develop and lead the Minneapolis Public Housing Patrol. We will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Visitation at KOZLAK-RADULOVICH CHAPEL (1918 University Ave. NE) Tuesday, April 18th, 2017 from 4-7 PM with Vigil Prayers at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at CHURCH OF THE HOLY CROSS (17th Ave. NE & University Ave. NE) Wednesday, April 19th, 2017 at 10 AM with visitation one hour prior. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
