The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Gregory Dayon can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Farewell, Greg...

I met you shortly after moving to Northeast, twenty years ago. When we would run into one another, you were always in good humor and so full of life and gusto. You would share stories about growing up in Minneapolis, your enjoyment of nature, your travels, your love of good food, your affection for family, especially for your grandson, of whom you were especially proud.

One day, we discovered that we had a mutual interest in the Roman emperor and soldier, Marcus Aurelius. You told me that you had an audio book of the Meditations that you enjoyed listening to.

When I heard of your passing, I pulled out my copy of the Meditations and found these five thoughts that I think you must have especially savored:

“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.”

“Accept the things to which fate binds you, and love the people with whom fate brings you together, but do so with all your heart.”

“The only wealth which you will keep forever is the wealth you have given away.”

“The art of living is more like wrestling than dancing.”

“The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.”

Goodbye, my friend. It is my pleasure and honor to have known you.
