Obituary for Linda Walker (Clark)

Linda Walker, age 71, passed away on November 30, 2017 at her home in Blaine, Minnesota. Linda, the youngest of eight siblings, was born on September 13, 1946 in Gorebridge, Scotland, where she grew up with her five sisters, two brothers, and loving mother Jean. She moved to Minnesota in 1966, two years after after marrying her husband of 53 years, David. A whiz at English and Art in school, she never thought she’d end up in computer programming, but spent most of her career as a research programmer for various companies in the Twin Cities — although she always said her favorite job was in the merchandising department of the Fridley Target under her boss Mr. Barnett. She was working there when she had her two children, Laurie and Mike, born in January and December of 1973. She was the best mother, kind, stern, and always available. She’s deeply loved by her husband, Dave — who often refers to her as “his rock,” someone who kept him steady and grounded through the joys and challenges of their marriage.

Linda had a very loud voice and no trouble communicating her opinion. People, always curious about her accent and where she was from, would often annoy the hell out her by telling her how much they loved to hear her talk. Cheers to you, random grocery store and DMV employees, for appreciating her voice — we’ll miss hearing her talk about politics, dogs, and yelling at David for smoking in the car, the house, and anywhere he wasn’t supposed to. She is survived by her husband Dave, son Michael, daughter-in-law Jenny, daughter Laurie, and grandchildren Gavin, Madison, and Ethan. The family will be holding a gathering, Thursday, December 7 from 3pm-5pm at the Kozlak-Radulovich funeral chapel in Blaine, with a reception to follow at Dave and Linda’s home.
