Obituary for John Franklin Lawrence

John Franklin Lawrence, 77, of Blaine, passed away on December 18, 2017 after a courageous battle with mesothelioma. He fought the good fight, never quit and tackled the disease head on. His stubborn ways served him well!

John was born Oct. 8, 1940, in St. Peter, MN. He graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1958 and received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Northwestern Chiropractic College in 1973 and began a fulfilling career as a chiropractor. John will be deeply missed by his three children; Doug (Amanda), Gina and Kate (Jeff); granddaughters, Brigid, Kiara, Angelica, Gabrielle; sisters JoAnn of Asheville, NC (Jim) and Kathleen of Cody, WY (John).

Having enlisted in the Marine Corp at the age of 23, John was medically discharged due to spondylolisthesis which is a spinal disorder. This was his catalyst to pursuing a career in chiropractic.

John was a chiropractor until he retired in 2016. He was proud of his profession and by doing so he helped hundreds of people over the course of 40+ years find relief from head, back and neck ailments. In addition, he was a firm believer in the importance of holistic medicine.

His hometown of the “Jolly Green Giant” has been near and dear to his heart as a place filled with many cherished memories of times spent with siblings, close cousins and dear friends. John was inducted into the Le Sueur High School Wrestling Hall of Fame in January of 2016. It was a day he would never forget!

An avid youth and college sports fan, he was a long-time supporter of Spring Lake Park athletics, St. John’s football and more recently watching his grandchildren play at Saint Agnes School. His granddaughters have been his greatest joy and watching them grow up is something he was deeply going to miss.

Visitation at KOZLAK-RADULOVICH BLAINE CHAPEL (107th Ave. NE & Hwy. 65) Tuesday, December 26 from 4-7 PM with Knights of Columbus Prayer Service at 6 PM. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, December 27 at CHURCH OF ST. TIMOTHY (707 - 89th Ave NE, Blaine) at 11 AM with a visitation one hour prior. Interment Hillside Cemetery, Minneapolis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Homeward Bound - Plymouth House, where his daughter, Gina resides.
