Obituary for Courtney James Schuur

SCHUUR, COURTNEY J. “CORKY”

Age 54 of Coon Rapids, owner of Corky’s Towing, passed away December 28th at home peacefully in his sleep. Faced with cancer, Corky fought courageously each step of the way, always retaining his positive attitude and never voicing a complaint. Corky was proud to own Corky’s Towing in Minneapolis. He was a third generation tow operator, having worked alongside his father and grandfather at Shorty’s Towing in Fridley. He was a member of the MN Towing Association and was a good friend to the MSRA. Corky was well known in the tow industry and was a mentor to many. His sense of humor, generous heart, fondness for winning slot machines, and his Batman antics with his grandsons will be dearly missed. Corky loved spending time at his cabin on Lake Mille Lacs where he was known to spend hours with family and dear friends around the fire pit telling stories and celebrating sunsets. No matter what your age, a ride on Corky’s Ice Cream Getter was the perfect end to the day. He is preceded in death by his son, Justin & father, Roger. He will be forever missed by his loving wife, Laurie; daughter, Jena; grandsons, Jacob, Connor & Jackson; special little girl. Charlee; mother, Joanne; siblings, Jeff & Jacqueline (Kyle) McCollor; 4-legged furry kids, Buddy, Bear, Anna & Skinny; nieces, nephews, other relatives & his extended towing family. Visitation at KOZLAK-RADULOVICH BLAINE CHAPEL (107th Ave. NE & Hwy. 65) Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018 from 5-8 PM. Funeral service at EMMANUEL CHRISTIAN CENTER (7777 University Ave. NE) Thursday, January 4th, 2018 at 1 PM. A Celebration of Life and burial will be held in Malmo, MN later this Spring.
