Obituary for Mark Wayne Rubedor

Mark Wayne Rubedor
Rubedor, Mark W., age 55 of Plymouth passed away after an 8 month courageous battle with mesothelioma surrounded by his loving family. Mark was born in Hutchinson, MN on April 1, 1961. He attended and graduated from high school in Windom, MN in 1979. Following high school, he graduated from lineman school at Minnesota West Community and Technical College in Jackson, MN in 1980 and was immediately hired by Xcel Energy (NSP), where he was employed until his death. Mark began his career as an electrical lineman, in various locations of the twin cities metro area. Additionally, Mark was promoted into various Management positions at Xcel, most recently a Metro Distribution Control Center Manager in St. Paul, MN and Eau Claire, WI. Mark was always humble, dedicated, yet proud of his work and thoroughly enjoyed it; he often shared his experiences with family members. Because of Mark’s utility expertise, he was often selected to lead in Mutual Aid assistance for other utilities on behalf of Xcel, including New York’s Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Mark was an avid runner for many years, enjoyed wildlife, watching the Vikings and Wild, hunting, hiking, traveling and loved fishing; he shared that love with all of his family. Mark enjoyed cooking for his family; barbequing 3 different kinds of meats to serve was ‘normal’ for him. Mark’s ultimate treasure was his family; spending quality time with them, ensuring they were taken care of and happy were his top priorities. Upon his diagnosis, what saddened Mark the most was the possibility of not seeing his grandchildren grow up; he loved them deeply and they loved their “Papa”. Although he was taken from us much too soon, he will be remembered for everything he stood for and by our wonderful memories that we shared with him forever. Mark was preceded in death by his brother, David Carrison. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Lund-Rubedor, his children, Amber Becker (Greg) of Lindstrom, MN, Katie Rubedor-Green (Adam) of St. Paul, MN, Alex and Mackenzie Lund of Plymouth, MN, grandchildren, Mason, Nicholas, Brody, Charlotte and Junia, his parents Maurine and DeWayne Rubedor of Duluth, MN, his brother, David Rubedor (Byron Bradley) of Minneapolis, MN, his sisters, Kristine LeFleur (Jim) of Hugo, MN and Kathy Crowell (Dean) and nephew Daniel Crowell all of Byron Center, MI and his “little buddy” Dexter. A Celebration of Mark’s life will be held at KOZLAK-RADULOVICH MAPLE GROVE CHAPEL (13745 Reimer Dr.) Monday, January 16, 2017 from 4-7 PM with a Time of Remembrance at 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (www.curemeso.org).
