Again, Out at the Lake

As I said in the Old Oak Tree story, kids were allowed to roam free to discover nature while the grown-ups had a ‘few' beers.  We kids decided to do just that.  Out on the lake in a small aluminum fishing boat, we were rowing around in front of the cabins.  It was a blue-sky day and the water in the lake was so clear we could see the bottom.  In the boat was a small, red wrench.  I was trailing it gently in the water watching the small rippley wake it created.  Entranced by the pattern of the water, my grip on the vice relaxed and into the lake it went.  We rowed back to where it went down.  The water wasn't deep and we could see it because of the clarity of the water so Paul Jr reached over to retrieve it.  Like I mentioned, the water wasn't deep, but it was deep enough that as we positioned and re-positioned over the wrench, Paul finally was able to grasp it, however, not without falling out of the boat.     So, Paul fully clothed and dripping wet and the rest of the boat crew, traipsed up to the house.  Again the fur flew.  It was amazing how when we kids got together, there was always so much fur flying.  I won't go into the times we visited them at their house in Detroit Lakes!  You guessed it.  More flying fur!
